Just over the line of Montgomery County in Parke is Grange Store, and near this place lived Volney Martin, a wealthy and prominent farmer. Martin committed suicide Monday evening in a most horrible manner. He had been drinking for several days, and as his affairs were not going to suit him, he became morose and sullen. On Monday evening he lost all control of himself, and suddenly drawing a razor started in pursuit of his daughter, who terrified fled from him like the wind. Martin then with his razor almost cut his own head from his body, dying instantly. The affair has caused a tremendous sensation about that section.-s
